Camacho Havana Monarca Cigar Review @ CigarJack.net
Description: I just recently had a chance to try a Camacho Havana for the first time. My local shops never carried them and after getting a couple from a friend I was on a mission to hunt down a box.
A Honduran Puro, and contains Corojo Filler and Binder like many of Camacho’s cigars. The Criollo wrapper mellows this cigar out a bit leaving just short of full bodied.
Each one I’ve smoked has been well constructed. They tend to run a bit softer than most cigars and typically have an easy draw. The wrapper doesn’t have any noticeably large veins. I picked up a hint of leather on the pre-light draw check.
First Third:
The Camacho Havana starts with a heavy leather flavor that changes throughout the first thrid becoming very coffee like. The burn was a little off, but nothing to complain about.
Second Third:
Predominately coffee and bitter dark chocolate at this point. Picking up a little pepper now and also that unique flavor you’ll find in most Corojo cigars. The burn had evened out by this point and the ash was holding on fairly well, but was a bit flaky.
Final Third:
The cigar still has that coffee and bitter chocolate flavor, but the pepper is really coming on strong. In the last inch it was pretty much done and starting to take a turn for the worst so I laid it to rest.
Verdict: I’ve been on a Corojo kick lately and this cigar hits the spot for an afternoon or evening smoke and won’t break the budget.
