Camacho 10th Anniversary commercial contest cancelled

Camacho Cigars has cancelled the 10th Anniversary Commercial contest due to lack of entries. The contest for a 30 or 60 second homemade commercial was announced on March 26th, 2008 and was set to end on May 10th 2008. The grand prize winner would have taken home a check for $2,500 after their submission had been chosen.

“We are deeply saddened by the lackluster response to this contest. We thought this would be a simple and fun contest for cigar smokers to team up, make some goofy homemade commercials, and win some cash. Everything is a learning experience and we have definitely learned from this one… Our apologies to all that did participate and submit their entries. ” - Dylan Austin, Camacho Cigars

Well, this really stinks!!! I have been preparing (what I thought was a pretty neat 60 second commercial) and working for this project and have invested quite a bit of time into it. I didn’t want to post it up till the 8th or so purely for competitive reasons and now it’s all cancelled.

Pretty disappointed. I’ll finish it nonetheless (90% done anyways).

Post the video anyways!!! I’m sure we can send you a little something, something!!!

Ouch, last minute cancellation. I was also putting on the finishing touches and posting mine tomorrow. I don’t know what to say except you start something you finish it.

I was doing the same. Waiting until the end to post. I was hoping for some good competition.

Very disappointing–take a look at my video and you’ll see I did research, took time to edit and post….how do you cancel a contest because you don’t like the entries? They don’t cancel the grammy’s because music stinks today! Very surprising – I expected much more from Camacho – not bush league antics….

    Hey Jeff,

We apologize for your discontent with us canceling the commercial contest. Unfortunately the contest yielded far less entries than anticipated, it had nothing to do with the quality of the work. We usually don’t do this type of thing, but everything you do is a learning experience. I can assure you that we learned a lesson from this one!

I, personally, would like to apologize for the great effort that you DID put into making the video. From the looks of it, yours was a very good one and it seems you did do a lot of research to put it together. The last thing we would like to do is leave a bad taste in someone’s mouth because of a contest gone bad.

    Deepest Regards,
