The Champ is back again for yet another review for B&B! This week’s review falls in line with the recent Independence Day holiday; with most patriotic holidays we love to have at least one “patriotic-named” cigar to enjoy in honor of that particular day. For this holiday, I decided to break out a cigar that fellow BOTL Keith Hollar sent to me (thanks again brotha!) and that cigar was the Camacho Liberty 09! The background of this cigar is that it is suppose to debunk the theory that the 05 version was the best of the Liberty series.

Today I’m firing up a special cigar to celebrate Independence Day. The Camacho Liberty Series was originally released in 2002, and the annual release always seems to come with some excitement. As with any annual release there always has to be a favorite, and for a while it’s been widely accepted that the Liberty 2005 was the best of the bunch.

The San Luis y Martinez may just be Camacho’s best-kept secret. While the Triple Maduro, Corojo, and Liberty series boast many fans around the globe, this cigar could be considered their secret weapon. Little is actually known about the San Luis y Martinez, except that it has been blended to replicate the flavor of classic Cuban cigars of long ago. They come sealed in attractive glass tubes, available in only a few sizes, and are hard to find in retail shops.

Today’s cigar is the Sencillo which was recently gifted to me Joseph over at ubicigar.com and the photo is from him as well. A solid brother of the leaf with a really good site. I first heard of Sencillo in an email from Prometheus but I never really paid attention to is since none of my local shops carry anything other then the God of Fire of which I am a fan. When I mentioned to Joseph I never smoked one he offered me one and it turned into a huge trade.

A special thanks to Mike over at Stogie Review for putting this review together, follow Mike on Twitter.
Starting out nicely with my LegendArio Connecticut Bertha. Very mild and woody taste with a bit of sweetness on the back end. Seems to be nice and creamy so far. I am hoping this continues.

The Triple Maduro holds a special place in my heart as my first ‘favorite cigar’ aside from Romeo y Julieta which was my favorite when I didn’t smoke cigars often. It was the first box of cigars I bought, and I actually remember the day very well: it was a Camacho event, and I didn’t know enough about cigars to even look for a rep, but I bought my first big humidor and my first box of Camacho Triple Maduro torpedo’s. I made this purchase after smoking a single robusto, and today I decided I’d break out a Triple Maduro from that box, with three years of age on it. >> Click here to read the full review

I feel like a broken record with yet another disclaimer on the cigar being smoked for review. But once again these come gifted to me and this time the thanks goes out to Dylan over at Camacho. According to an email I got this week, Camacho Cigars has begun shipping it’s latest brand, Ramones. Ramones is an old brand originally introduced by Simon Camacho in the 1960’s. The new version is now shipping and features a Honduran interior blend with a choice of a Honduran Criollo (medium-to-full in body) or an Ecuadorian-grown, Connecticut seed wrapper (medium). The new Ramones is offered in (6) different formats, in both boxes of 25 and 50 (El Guajiro), with very accessible retail prices of $1.95 to $3.95 per cigar.
