Cigar Dinners are becoming more and more popular… and the concept of the “in-store” dinner is also gaining popularity around the country. Now I don’t know for SURE, but I’m pretty damn sure we were among the very first to seat 50 people for dinner inside a cigar shop. It was with Ashton in early January of 2005… and Tony and Manny Ferraro of Ashton were on hand for it. In fact, they came by yesterday and we were reminiscing about that event and how far we’ve come since then! (more…)

Miami Herald – “Swiss firm acquires Camacho Cigars”

Camacho Cigars, one of the first cigar makers to call Miami home, announced Monday it has been acquired by Switzerland-based Oettinger Davidoff Group, which plans on keeping the status quo at the Miami company’s operations.

Oettinger Davidoff President and Chief Executive Reto Cina, 62, called it ”stupid” to change any aspect of Camacho’s business operations, citing how the private company is not in any financial trouble.

Oettinger Davidoff Group acquires Camacho Cigars

As of October 1st, 2008, Camacho Cigars, based in Danli, Honduras and Miami, Florida will become a proud member of the Oettinger Davidoff Group based in Basel, Switzerland. Camacho Cigars is a key player in the U.S.A., the world’s largest Premium Cigar market where around half of the world’s handmade cigars are sold.
 
The addition of Camacho Cigars to the Davidoff family expands the coverage of the Oettinger Davidoff Group from the Dominican Republic to Honduras and adds ten attractive brands to the Group’s portfolio along with its dynamic management and sales teams, presided by Christian Eiroa. This also gives Oettinger Davidoff access to one of the three largest tobacco growers in Honduras. The extensive Eiroa estates are located in the Jamastran Valley, Honduras and are especially known for their Authentic Corojo tobacco leaves. (more…)
