In 2002 the Camacho brand offered its first limited edition; the Liberty Collection.  Every year since the Liberty has been a one time limited release- one size one blend- using the best tobaccos available to create a one time experience, never to be repeated.  Just as a particular wine’s vintage runs its course- so too do the annual limited runs of Camacho Liberty.  Over the years some have been milder, others stronger; some with more unique shapes, others with double wrappers creating a “barber-pole” like effect.  But this year’s Camacho Liberty epitomizes the Camacho experience.  Straight forward, rich, complex fabulous tasting tobacco.

A little history….

This cigar is said to be one of the best Honduran cigars made.  Only 40,000 cigars were produced, total, packed in just 2,000 chests. Each cigar comes wrapped in tissue paper, then enclosed inside individual (Numbered) Spanish cedar coffins. 20 coffins are then set inside a large, humidor-quality Spanish cedar chest that has been individually numbered. Miami, FL., July 2, 2009  –  We are proud to announce the NEW 2009 Camacho Liberty. This latest edition was blended by Christian Eiroa as an attempt to debunk the 2005 Liberty, which has been touted as the best Camacho Liberty to date. This particular issue is being offered with much anticipation as they were made in October 2007 using our one and only crop of Habano, a seed that has not been grown since and only yielded enough for a small amount of cigars. My local B&M ordered these at the trade show in Las Vegas and in the blink of an eye they were sold out. I managed to get my hands on 3 of them and after smoking 2 of them I decided to review it. The first one I smoked at a BBQ with a couple of friends and the second one I took to the beach to smoke.

The Camacho Liberty 2008 is limited to 40,000 cigars and the Camacho website which is outdated gives zero information about this years bunch. In fact trying to find out the wrapper/binder/filler information has been very difficult to say the least. So for this review we will do without The Skinny section.
