This week, I’ll be reviewing the Camacho SLR Maduro in the Rothschild size. The SLR, Special Limited Reserve, are made with two wrappers: natural corojo and an US Connecticut broadleaf maduro. Camacho use 100% Pinareno tobacco in the cigars from Rancho Jamastran in Honduras famed for their Corojo. The tobacco is aged for 5 years to really bring out the flavor of the corojo. The one I’m sampling today is about 3 or 4 years old which is why it has the old packaging. The cello wrapper around the cigar actually turned yellow. I haven’t had one of these in a long time, too long, so I choice this one for this week’s review. The cigar comes in different sizes in the different wrappers. (more…)

Description: I got this cigar as part of a word of mouth promotion they are trying over at Social Cigar, Camacho’s new online cigar community. The cigar was very nice looking, and actually very dark for a natural wrapper. If hadn’t seen the nearly black SLR Maduro you could have told me this was the Maduro and I would have believed you. The wrapper had a little tooth on it and one bigger vein in it, but overall very well constructed. I checked the prelight draw and found it acceptable picking up some hints of leather and wood. Description:
The Camacho SLR Maduro is an imposing looking cigar with Honduran Filler from the Eiroa’s family farm in Jamastran Valley, ranging in color from dark chocolate to black on its veiny Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The cigar is firm and heavy for its size, but has an easy draw. The prelight draw test yielded some hints of chocolate and leather that peaked my interest. (more…)
